At just four years old, Kimberly Steward found herself seeking refuge in the doghouse. The family dog kept her warm while a light flowed in through the roof. Her angel was near and would stay with her. She needed an angel. The sexual abuse had begun. She and her 17 siblings were more than aware of the physical and emotional abuse her father and uncle were prone to, and now this.

Songwriter/Addicts come together to address a musical question: Can creating music become a satisfying substitute for drug and alcohol addiction? "Writing music helps me fight my need for pills, wine, and food, which is all I can think of when I'm bored," says writer Lori King, "This is better. Instead of calling my dealer, I call my co-writer."
