Former Gang Member Cures Colitis
What do President George W. Bush’s brother, Marvin, and John Assaraf have in common? What do they share with.5 million other Americans? Marvin Bush and John Assaraf both suffered from ulcerative colitis, a chronic (ongoing) disease of the colon, or large intestine. Marvin Bush had his colon removed. John Assaraf, author and human performance expert, healed himself.
According to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, colitis is marked by inflammation and ulceration of the colon’s innermost lining. Tiny ulcers, form on the surface of the lining, where they bleed and produce pus and mucus. Because the inflammation makes the colon empty frequently, symptoms typically include diarrhea and abdominal pain.
There is no cure for this chronic disease. Medication only suppresses the body’s inflammatory response. Some, like Bush, choose to have their colons permanently removed. Assaraf, however, took a different route.
“You know how everyone has a ‘most embarrassing moment’ story? Well, ulcerative colitis provided mine. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was so ashamed and embarrassed that I felt like jumping off a bridge,” laments Assaraf. “However, I learned to control my mind and completely remove the old programming of stress and sickness. Instead, every day I saw my colon healed and healthy.”
Assaraf invoked visualization to heal himself from this complicated, painful, embarrassing illness. By remaking his body at a cellular level he was able to completely wipe the disease from his body. How? By visualizing a healthy colon.
“Your body has an operating system just like a computer does. Some of the functions are preprogrammed and controlled by what we refer to as the subconscious mind. Others you control,” informs Assaraf. “Our jobs are to understand the connection between the body and the mind. We can change our lives, and we can change ourselves.”
Assaraf, “THE STREET KID,” learned his life lessons on the streets where he escaped small-time gang life after he learned to visualize himself as getting out of it. “We are born into certain circumstances, but that doesn’t mean we are stuck in them. Change your habits and have it all.”
