Apache Junction Arizona Implements EmergencyMedicalStation™ System Throughout Public School System

Emergency Medical Systems, Inc. of Parma, Michigan, the manufacturer of the EmergencyMedicalStation™, which contains a life-saving automatic external defibrillator device, real time connection to a nationally certified Paramedic, and automatic local EMS notification, today announced that the Apache Junction Public Schools in Apache Junction, Arizona has contracted to have 11 EmergencyMedicalStations installed throughout their school district. The program, including training, and the outfitting of Apache Junction Public Schools with cost-effective, life-saving medical first response equipment is designed to render assistance in any type of medical emergency. Apache Junction has become the first Arizona school district to join a growing lists of schools across America which have become part of Emergency Medical Systems, Inc’s nationwide campaign to provide life-saving medical first response systems to schools and retailers..

"Every day, nearly 1000 Americans suffer sudden cardiac arrest, their best chance for survival is if someone nearby has access to an AED and knows how to use it. That is the essence of public access defibrillation" said Emergency Medical Systems, Inc. President and CEO Mr. C. Kevin Coonce. “School districts across America are experiencing State mandates to install AEDs. To date all of these mandates have been non-funded, this has put an extreme burden on already cash strapped school districts. At Emergency Medical Systems, we have designed a system whereby schools across America can implement the AED programs they so desperately need, while at the same time doing so at no cost to the school district. Through the generous support of national, regional, and local sponsors, we are able to pay the schools just to participate."

The first person on the scene of a cardiac arrest is usually not the paramedic. Since every minute counts in saving the victim's life, small businesses, office buildings, malls, health clubs, schools, restaurants, and other venues should all have an AED. "Defibrillators should be like fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, or first-aid kits," says Mr. Coonce.
