Atlanta School of Massage to Receive Award from ACCSCT

In April, the Atlanta School of Massage will be a recipient of the 2004 ACCSCT School of Distinction Award. The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) gives the award to massage therapy schools that demonstrate a commitment to delivering quality educational programs.

The Atlanta School of Massage has specialized in massage therapy training since 1980. Accredited by ACCSCT in 1988, the massage therapy school trains students for massage therapy careers. The 300 students currently enrolled in the school will receive their massage therapy certification when they graduate.

The Atlanta School of Massage offers four unique programs that teach various massage therapy techniques: the Integrated Massage and Deep Tissue Program, the Clinical Massage Program, the Wellness Massage and Spa Therapies Program, and the Asian Bodywork Program.

New to the massage therapy school is the Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics. A division of the Atlanta School of Massage, the institute was started a year ago. It teaches skincare from a comprehensive point of view, integrating traditional approaches with holistic principles. Graduates are qualified to take the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination and to begin careers as highly trained professionals.

The Atlanta School of Massage will also receive recognition this year from the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP). ABMP has chosen to highlight the school’s Massage and Spa Therapies program for its innovative approach to combining spa services and massage therapy training.

ACCSCT is a private, nonprofit, independent accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. As an accrediting agency, ACCSCT is responsible for assuring that its member institutions and their educational programs are capable of preparing students for their chosen careers.

The ACCSCT Annual Business Meeting is scheduled for mid-June at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort in Orlando, FL. Leticia Allen, cofounder and President of the Atlanta School of Massage, will represent the school at the conference.

The Atlanta School of Massage is located in the Dunwoody area of Atlanta, off of Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. The massage therapy school’s student clinic sees nearly 50,000 clients a year. The 30,000-square-foot building includes 10 classrooms, a hydrotherapy suite and a bookstore that serves students and the general public.

The Atlanta School of Massage, and its new division, the Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics, may be toured by appointment by contacting the admissions office at 678-805-0120. They may also be toured at one of the massage therapy school’s monthly introductory evenings.

For more information about the massage therapy school, visit its website or contact the Atlanta School of Massage for a brochure.
