Health and Wellness for Men--Penn State to Sponsor National Conference on Men's Health

The National Conference on Men's Health, which will be held in Arlington, Va. on May 20 to 22, 2004, will bring together a group of experts on health and wellness for men.

ABC News Medical Correspondent Dr. Timothy Johnson will offer the keynote address at The National Conference on Men's Health. Dr. Johnson is considered one of the nation’s leading medical communicators of health and wellness information and has provided commentary on health and wellness issues for viewers of ABC News' "Good Morning America."

The conference will also bring together some of the nation's most respected health and wellness authorities, including Dr. David Satcher who completed his four-year term as the sixteenth U.S. surgeon general in February 2002. Dr. Satcher also served as assistant secretary for health from February 1998 to January 2001, making him only the second person in history to have held these two positions simultaneously. As surgeon general and assistant secretary for health, Dr. Satcher led the department's effort to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health, an initiative that was incorporated as one of the two major goals of Healthy People 2010, the nation's health agenda for the this decade.

The National Conference on Men's Health is sponsored by Penn State's Outreach, College of Health and Human Development and College of Medicine in partnership with the Men’s Health Network.
