Washington County Psychotherapy Associates Goes Live with Sequest Technologies' TIER® Billing/AR

Washington County Psychotherapy Associates (WCPA) in Machias, Maine, has joined the growing number of TIER® clients to move to the TIER® Workflow and Billing Modules. WCPA has been a Sequest client since September 2000.

After successfully installing the TIER® system for emergency services, WCPA commissioned Sequest to provide a billing and accounts receivable software. Shelly Kim, Sequest Project Manager and Liz Sayre, WCPA Project Lead led the implementation venture. The go live date of July 1, 2003 was met on schedule and Sequest and WCPA are finishing up the remaining tasks and look forward to completion by end of month.

“WCPA is one of the most accomplished and experienced organizations we work with. Their leadership and staff are driven to use technology to provide better support to front line staff and make client care more streamlined. We utilize them as a voice and knowledge base for our continued development. WCPA is a true partner to Sequest!”

Light Therapy Widely Used for Seasonal Affective Disorder Provides Dramatic Benefits for Non-Seasonally Depressed: Clinical Study - In a controlled study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, light therapy used for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) dramatically hastened and improved the reponse of major non-seasonally depressed patients to Celexa, a popular SSRI antidepressant. The study's authors concluded that the finding is "likely to change common clinical practice" for treating depression. Patients who used an advanced, low-intensity, form of light therapy responded almost immediately to the medication, instead of after the usual two-to-four week delay common with antidepressant treatment. The researchers' use of Sunnex Biotechnologies' low-intensity light therapy is consistent with studies indicating that side effects from bright light therapy, such as discomfort and potential eye damage, may be avoided through the use of low-intensity light from a select portion of the visible spectrum.
