Stress Levels Soaring Leads to Turning Up the Heat

As men and women continue to suffer the affects of high stress levels, the health industry is doing their part to promote a healthier lifestyle.

“I was a giant stress ball. My back was hurting me, I had muscle pain, tension headaches, I was in pretty bad shape,” Robyn Goldman, 37, New York, NY explains. “My doctor suggested hot yoga to help me with my muscle pain and stiffness and even my stress,” Goldman continues.

Goldman, like many other men and women have turned to
Bikram yoga, also known as hot yoga. Bikram yoga uses a sequential series of poses to help strengthen the body, increase flexibility and relieve muscle tension in a hot environment. Performing yoga in a hot environment which can be as high as 105 degrees promotes flexibility and allows for deeper stretching and greater results.

“It has been night and day for me,” Goldman states. “I kind of view my hot yoga as totally my time, it’s all about me doing something for me,” she continues.

“We get many men and women coming to us because stress is starting to effect both their mind and body,” Roodolph Senecal of Bikram Yoga Chelsea explains. “We help our clients work through stress, create and stronger
mind body connection, relieve associated back pain and muscle pain and improve strength and flexibility,” Senecal continues.

In a nation where stress levels continue to skyrocket, many men and women will try every new development in the battle against stress. As people try everything new, many men and women are turning to Bikram yoga and finding success.

“The classes are tougher and tougher to get into because more people are learning that hot yoga is amazing, I’ve been telling all my friends about it,” Goldman explains. “Living in New York can be stressful and this my secret weapon against that stress….OK, I guess it’s not so secret now,” Goldman laughs.

Bikram yoga is enjoying a renaissance in New York and other major cities as people begin to learn the value of mind body balance,
strength and flexibility and stress relief. As stress turns up the heat on New Yorkers, New Yorkers are turning up the heat with Bikram yoga.
