Key Laser Institute Finds Laser is Better than Radio

The latest research in aesthetic medicine has found that in most patients, a single treatment with the long-pulse YAG laser at a higher fluence than used in multiple treatment studies improves skin laxity more than a single treatment with the Thermage RF device. This is particularly significant because, despite the dramatic improvements associated with surgical face-lifting, the recovery time and high expense remain significant drawbacks of these procedures.

“Patients seeking cosmetic improvement prefer procedures with little downtime yet are safe, effective, and reasonably priced,” Dr. Douglas Key wrote in a recent study. “If downtime is short, patients can receive these treatments without revealing to friends and associates that they’ve ‘had a procedure.’” As Dr. Key’s research shows, new Gentle YAG protocols have become available that could increase the treatment safety, rapidity, cost effectiveness, and patient comfort. Dr. Key’s research findings were reported to a national audience at the recent American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) meeting in Boston.
