New Web Site Helps Consumers Reduce Rising Health Care Expenses
Health care consumers now have a one-stop online resource for timely information on reducing ever-increasing medical costs. Health Savings News (www.healthsavingsnews.com), which launched in March, provides visitors with educational articles, downloads, interviews and tips on topics ranging from Medicare Part D and health savings accounts to money-saving advice on health insurance and prescription drug coverage.
Health Savings News editors scour the Web daily for information to help health care consumers reduce out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, the editors interview industry experts for insights on stretching your health care dollar without sacrificing quality of care. Advice on shopping for health insurance also will be offered.
"Health Savings News provides health care consumers with a one-of-a-kind, trusted source of information to help them manage skyrocketing out-of-pocket costs," explains publisher Brent Shean. "We're committed to presenting the newest money-saving options so that all consumers can better plan for the future."
The Health Savings News editorial team stays abreast of Medicare and other prescription drug scams. "With all of the focus around Medicare Part D, eligible seniors and their families need to be on the watch for fraudulent offers," Shean said.
The site regularly publishes interviews with health care experts. Paul Zane Pilzer, author of The New Health Insurance Solution, was asked his views on health savings accounts. "Properly used, health savings accounts (HSAs) are the ultimate financial planning tool," he remarked. "Unlike every other retirement vehicle, such as IRAs and 401(k)s, you receive a tax deduction for making contributions to your HSA but don't have to pay income taxes on withdrawals."
Health Savings News offers a free weekly newsletter that provides subscribers with money-saving tips. The site also showcases free health-related special offers and the Guide to Health Information on the Internet, compiled by the site's editors.
