Patent Bolsters QRS’ Ability to Distribute Products Internationally
MINNEAPOLIS -– September 21, 2004 -– QRS Diagnostic, leader in innovative design and development of software-based medical devices in computer cards, announces that its technology partner, BP Sure LLC, has received European Patent No. 0955873 on its method to detect and measure blood pressure sounds in noisy external environments. The European patent corresponds to U.S. Patent No. 5,772,600. QRS Diagnostic has exclusive worldwide rights to the patented method.
QRS Diagnostic encodes the intelligence of physiological data acquisition and analysis into computer cards. QRS computer card devices, with integrated sensors, connect to off-the-shelf computers, Pocket PCs and PDAs, making them work as mobile, full-function medical devices for spirometry, pulse oximetry, diagnostic electrocardiography and blood pressure monitoring.
“Our BPCard™, the world’s first and only computer card blood pressure monitor, uses the patented method to yield precise, digital blood pressure readings in seconds,” said Spencer Lien, chief executive officer, QRS Diagnostic. “The European patent strengthens our ability to market and distribute the product internationally.”
