“Pulse On America” to feature Elidel skin care from Novartis
Deerfield Beach, FL September 3, 2004 -- New Line Media Solutions is pleased to announce the selection of Elidel from Novartis for its innovative, educational television series, Pulse On America, to be featured in a segment on “Having Healthy Skin Again—Understanding Eczema.”
Today, over 34.8 million Americans suffer from eczema, a non-contagious inflammation of the skin, characterized chiefly by redness, itching, and lesions that may have a discharge and become encrusted and scaly. While there is no cure, today there is Elidel, a steroid-free product that can help manage mild or moderate eczema (atopic dermatitis).
When other treatments aren’t right, either because they are risky or they simply can’t be tolerated, Elidel can provide a steroid-free option. The cream is proven to significantly relieve itching and redness, and can go anywhere on the skin, including on the face and around the eyes. Elidel can also be used repeatedly if directed by a doctor, and is even safe for children as young as two.
Elidel targets the key cells involved with eczema right at the site of the problem. Pimecrolimus, the active ingredient, acts on the cells involved in skin inflammation. Elidel has been proven to relieve eczema without such side effects as thinning of the skin, stretch marks, or spider veins.
The show will feature an interview with Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield, chief of pediatrics and adolescent dermatology at Children’s Hospital of San Diego, CA, who will explain the impact of eczema and how early treatment can help reduce further complications.
Living with eczema can be a painful struggle at any age. Fortunately, more and more eczema sufferers are discovering why Elidel is the treatment they’ve been waiting for.
