Somnia Announces Expansion of Ambulatory Anesthesia Services into Philadelphia Region

Somnia, Inc., a leading provider of office-based and ambulatory anesthesia services, is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The expansion is part of the company’s efforts to provide anesthesia services to a broader-reaching market. Headquartered in New Rochelle, New York, Somnia currently provides office-based and ambulatory anesthesia services to physicians in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The new office, located in Center City, will enable Somnia to deliver optimum-level service to patients and clients in the Philadelphia area.

“While our focus is on creating a national company, we take pride in giving our clients local attention,” said Marc E. Koch, MD, MBA, President, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Somnia, Inc. “Our quality assurance program and adherence to AAAHC standards underscore our focus on providing exemplary patient care and setting the standard for office-based anesthesia.” Koch added that patients increasingly appreciate the comfort and convenience of a procedure performed in a doctor’s office. “With nearly 40 anesthesiologists covering New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, we look forward to expanding our coverage area to reach more patients within the Mid-Atlantic States.”

Office-based surgery is one of the fastest growing areas in medicine. Improved technology and short-acting anesthetics have enabled less invasive surgeries to become more common and more conducive to an office setting. According to the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA), the overall volume of surgeries has increased dramatically in recent years, growing from 20 million to 40 million cases from 1981 to 1999, and is expected to surpass 50 million cases by 2006.

Somnia, Inc. provides comprehensive anesthesia services to office-based surgical practices and ambulatory surgery centers. The company is a management service organization based in New Rochelle, NY. Somnia is dedicated to providing high quality, efficient and exceptional levels of service to patients and clients. For more information, please call 1.877.4SOMNIA (1.877.476.6642).
